The Fall 2010 CERT training class is now full. If you would like to be placed on a waiting list, please contact Linda Haynie at 512-974-0471 or email at linda.haynie@ci.austin.tx.us. Thank you for your interest.
Restrictions:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- A criminal background check will take place prior to acceptance as a volunteer.
Application Process:
- Submit the information requested below or download an application to send via US Mail. (If you are unable to complete the form below you are welcome to download and submit an application via U.S. post or email to oem@ci.austin.tx.us).
- Attend 22 hours of core training. Please click here to download the current training schedule.
- Complete a criminal background check. The required forms will be completed on the first day of class.
Volunteers:
- Are issued identifying items such as ID cards, caps, shirts or patches.
- Receive local and national recognition and awards for outstanding volunteer efforts.
- May receive positive recommendations for job applications.
- Gain experience that may help in pursuing job opportunities.
- Receive training that teaches new skills and develops new interests.

You understand that references may be checked and a criminal background check will be processed following the first class. You understand that the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) is not obligated to assign you if, in HSEM's professional judgement, it would not be in your best interest, or the best interest of HSEM.
